The last of the 10 things to do in retirement

Number 7

Dare I mention it yet – Travel

So many of my clients talk about the places that they would like to visit when they are retired. For some it is staying in the UK and seeing all of our amazing tourist spots. For others it is further afield to Europe and for others further still, maybe Mount Everest Base Camp is for you – having recently watching “Extreme Everest with Ant Middleton” I do not want to go to the top. Ever!!

Where is on your list of places to go and see? Please let me know as I would love to steal your ideas for my list.

Number 8

Be Social

As we have all been stuck in our bubbles for so long, this is a great one to do again. This can be going out for coffee with your friends, join a club (there are many more than just the WI these days!) and explore different activities. How about bingo or rock climbing?  The world is your oyster. Go out and explore.

Number 9

Spend Time with Family

You may have been doing this too much recently, all stuck in the same house together, but what about your family a bit further away? Have you got any older generation family that it would be lovely to spend some time with, or maybe grandchildren that would love the time with you to play or go shopping or clay pigeon shooting as my son does with his grandad? What about people who aren’t blood family but such good friends that they seem like family?

Number 10

Stay Fit

I am really struggling with this at the moment. The gyms closing and being inside so much has taken away my mojo. That plus my wedding has had to be postponed to next April, so I have lost my enthusiasm. The larger than normal amounts of chocolate and wine that have been consumed too, do not help.

However, I went for my first run in ages and felt very tired but oh so virtuous for doing it.

What is your exercise of choice? Qigong is my Mum’s favourite, but there are so many others. Golf, cycling, weights, walking, zumba, hula hooping, to name but a few. Find your favourite by giving loads a go and seeing what you most enjoy.

I can’t wait to hear what you have chosen
